Brooklyn Bakery Recalls Mexican Bread

NEW YORK (AP) -- New York State's agriculture commissioner says a Brooklyn bakery is recalling certain packages of a Mexican bread because they may contain eggs not listed as an ingredient on the label.

Commissioner Patrick Hooker said Thursday that "Mexican Bread (Assorted)" has been distributed throughout New York City's five boroughs.

He says people who are allergic to eggs may be at risk for serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the bread. So far, no illnesses have been reported.

Guadalupana Bakery Corp.'s "Mexican Bread (Assorted)" is packaged in 16-ounce clear plastic bags and has no code.

Consumers who purchased it are urged to throw it out or return it for a refund.
