Hyatt Previews Allergy-Free Hotel Rooms In NYC

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - Surfaces are sealed beneath anti-bacterial compounds.

Dust mites and other little nasties have no chance of getting into sealed pillows and mattresses.

The white noise is courtesy of a medically certified air purifier.

"[The program] was generated by the interest that the 21 to 25 percent of the traveling public that has allergies and suffers with respiratory sensitivities," Hyatt's Tom Smith told WCBS 880 reporter Paul Murnane.

35 of 1,300 rooms at the Grand Hyatt carry the "Respire" brand name, and up to 5% of the chain's New York area hotel room are available for what is described as a slight upcharge over the usual rate.
