Disaster Drill At Newark Airport On Saturday
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - It's better to be prepared than to be caught unaware.
LISTEN: WCBS 880's Paul Murnane reports
It's being called one of, if not the, largest drills in Port Authority history.
"They're gonna see cars. They're gonna see bodies," Port Authority Deputy Executive Director Bill Baroni told WCBS 880 reporter Paul Murnane.
Hundreds of first responders will descend upon the area around Terminal B at Newark Liberty International Airport on Saturday morning, October 16.
Baroni says, "You can have as many conversations in as many boardrooms as you want, but until you're out there with hundreds of people simulating what could happen, you'll never truly be prepared and that's what one of the things the Port Authority Police Department, over the last decade, has done."
Local, state, and federal responders are expected in action sometime after 8 a.m. This could wrap up around noon.
Depending on the wind, there could be a release of smoke.
They're releasing few details on the drill.
