No Disruptions From Taxi Fire Near NJ Airport

NEWARK (AP) -- Authorities say a taxi that caught fire near a Newark Liberty Airport terminal outside New York City caused no major problems or disruptions.

The taxi began burning in the area of Terminal A around 1 p.m. Saturday, shortly after a major security training exercise at the New Jersey airport had concluded.

A person with knowledge of the incident says the fire was not connected to the training event. The person was not authorized to speak on the record about the fire and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The vehicle was destroyed before the fire was extinguished, but no injuries or further property damage were reported and no one was evacuated.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
