B&C Show Blog & Audio: Bombers Baffled

Bobby Dwyer

Texas Rangers' left-hander Cliff Lee was straight dealin' last night in the Bronx as the Yankees took one on the chin and now trail the Rangers two games to one in the ALCS.  Lee improved to 7-0 lifetime in the Postseason, three of those wins coming against the Yankees (he beat the Yanks twice in last year's World Series while pitching for the Phillies) so last night's mind boggling performance really shouldn't have come as a huge shock to New Yorkers, but judging by the numerous news outlets this morning, it's time to push the panic button, but Craig took a different approach.  Even with AJ Burnett pitching tonight for the first time since October 7th, Boomer & Craig are both confident the Yanks can turn this thing around…

Boomer played 14 years in the NFL and never broke a bone and Craig thinks he knows the reason why, whole milk.  Jerry has been doing updates on the show for close to two years and he often makes mistakes and I know the reason why, because Jerry is no Boomer.  Anyway, Jerry delivered this update without a flaw and during it we heard B&C's take on the NFL cracking down on helmet-to-helmet hits…

The guys took a call from a listener and he insisted on referring to Craig as Mr. Carton, which isn't good for anyone, specifically Craigie's ego.  From there he went on to call Craig a 'calming influence' pointing to his optimistic outlook for the Yankees.  Boomer wanted to be sure there was no nonsense from Craig tonight at the game, the Dynamic Duo will be sitting together behind home plate and the Blonde Bomber does not want to be embarrassed on TV by his radio partner's antics…

When Al informed Craig that country singer Kenny Thomas would be singing the National Anthem at tonight's Rangers-Yankees game, Craig was at a loss as to who this Thomas fella was.  Turns out Al didn't get the whole story; Kenny Thomas is an American War Hero who just happens to be a Black Hawk pilot.  When Craig learned this he scolded Al for one - not being informed and two - for mocking Thomas in the first place.  One good thing did come out of Al's lack of preparation, we heard our intern Shawn belt out his own version of the National Anthem and he sang it so well that Craig told him that he could go home…

With baseball on everyone's mind, Al booked Billy Ripken to come on and help the guys break it all down.  Ripken played in the big leagues for 12 years and is the younger brother of the legendary Cal Ripken Jr.  These days he is working as a studio analyst for the MLB Network and he still isn't 100% sold that AJ Burnett will get the start tonight…

Coming back from a break Craig broke into song and invited Boomer to join him and the Blonde Bomber obliged.  This folks is rather awkward and because of that Jerry selected if for his highly anticipated Moment of the Day…

With the NFL revisiting their rules for helmet-to-helmet hits, the guys were joined by Ray Anderson, who serves as the VP of Football Operations for the NFL.  He filled the guys in on where the League is heading as far as policing these dangerous hits…
