Cops: Mom Was Shot, Not Beaten, To Death

EGG HARBOR CITY, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities are looking for a suspect in the fatal shooting of a mother of two in southern New Jersey.

Officials initially said Deanna Downs was beaten to death over the weekend. However, a detailed autopsy concluded the 29-year-old was found shot to death behind her Egg Harbor City apartment complex.

Her sister, Krystal Hoffman, told The Press of Atlantic City Downs is survived by an 8- and 10-year-old son.
