Veteran Teaneck Cop Death Investigation Continues
TEANECK, N.J. (CBS 2) -- The search for answers continued Tuesday following the death of a New Jersey police officer.
John Abraham was killed early Monday morning when his patrol car slammed into a telephone pole. The crash happened right in front of Teaneck police headquarters.
Abraham died just hours after saving the life of a man who had been choking inside a local restaurant.
"He remained very calm. Tried to give the man CPR. Very calm. Tried to do everything in his power to get the man to breathe again," said hostess Michelle Micek.
"He died doing what he wanted to do. He always said 'I want to die at work'," said Chief Robert Wilson of Teaneck Police.
Officer Abraham was pronounced dead at Holy Name Medical Center.
The man he saved was taken to the same hospital.
