B&C Show Blog & Audio: Beat That Beat Up

Bobby Dwyer

It was a successful opening night in the Tri-State Area as far as the NBA goes, the Knicks held on to beat the Raptors in Toronto 98-93 and the Nets used a late surge to overcome the Pistons in Jersey by a score of 101-98.  The Knicks are the real story here and Boomer & Craig discussed how much of an improvement they saw from the team and what we can expect moving forward.  The Mets have decided to hire Sandy Alderson to take over for Omar Minaya as General Manager of the team (will be officially announced any day now) and now his job as GM becomes to find a Manager for the team and Craig is afraid Alderson's tremendous ego might get in the way.  And for those of you unaware, the World Series began last night with the San Francisco Giants taking Game 1 over the Rangers by a score of 11-7 and answering the burning question of whether or not Cliff Lee is actually human.  The Giants smacked around the left-handed ace for 7 runs (6 earned) in his 4 2/3 innings of work, Lee entered the game unbeaten (7-0 in 8 starts) in his postseason career…

Plus, Boomer tells Craigie he is a 'high-maintenance' fan and then everyone sings a song, Randy Cross talks about the sport he once played (football), Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni talks about his opening night win and the outlook for the Knickerbockers, Pauly D from the 'Jersey Shore' talks about his rise to fame and spinning records, Jerry's Moment of the Day – which included some 'motor-boatin' and an 'Attention Grabber' that kept that 'motor-boatin' theme going…

While go on and on about the Mets new GM, Boomer informed Craig that he is indeed a 'high-maintenance' fan and suggests that maybe he 'pump the brakes' a bit before passing judgment on Alderson.  Then we heard a wonderful rendition of the song, 'John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt' as sung by Boomer, Craig, Al, Eddie & Jerry.  Al was not too happy with Jerry's participation level and he let him know about it.  Jerry shook off Al's slight and then delivered an update which was highlighted by a moment of clarity courtesy of Craigie regarding the Jets…

New York Premiere Of "Winning Time: Reggie Miller vs. The New York Knicks"

With the Knicks winning their season opener in Toronto last night, the buzz for the team was pretty evident.  The buzz level really spiked when the Knickerbockers Head Coach, Mike D'Antoni took some time out of his busy schedule to talk about his team and what he expects from them this season, D'Antoni's third year with the team.  Craig tried to goad him in to commenting on Carmelo Anthony and the chances he ends up wearing the orange and blue, but D'Antoni was too smart for that…

Boomer's Foundation (BEF) is hosting their annual Halloween party tonight and they hired DJ Pauly D to handle the music.  For those of you unfamiliar with who Pauly D is, I have two words for you 'Jersey Shore'.  Pauly is one of the stars the MTV Reality hit and he joined Boomer & Craig to talk about his unexpected rise to stardom and what he plans to do to sustain his fame.  He also guaranteed to have everyone 'beating the beat back' at tonight's Halloween celebration…

Craig is more than a little worried about who new Mets GM Sandy Alderson might hire to manage the club, so Jerry suggested he break out the bullhorn and bust out a few chants.  Which is exactly what Craigie did and Jerry selected it as his highly anticipated Moment of the Day…
