Long Island Nursing Home Resident Injured In Fire
ISLAND PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- Police said a resident of a Long Island nursing home suffered burns to his legs after a fire broke out in his room.
The man was taken to a hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
The fire started shortly before 3 a.m. Monday at the Bayview Nursing Home in Island Park. The building was briefly evacuated.
Three employees were treated at the scene. Six police officers were taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation and released.
The fire is under investigation.
