Behind The Scenes: Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- It was a chilly night on Wednesday outside, but it was hot in Gramercy Park for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

While dozens of girls strutted their stuff on the catwalk, it took an army of people to get those "Angels" off the ground. CBS 2's Hazel Sanchez got a sneak peak behind the scenes.

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is the most watched runway show on the planet.

Beautiful girls in over-the-top underwear and sexy lingerie prowl on the catwalk in what's often called "a night of a thousand fantasies."

It may be easy on viewers' eyes, but backstage, it takes a lot of hard work.

"It's part of the Victoria's Secret phenomenon," model Karolina Kurkova said. "It doesn't just happen on the runway. It kind of all happens a lot behind the scenes, backstage, where we're getting ready."

It's a true case of controlled chaos, as dozens of makeup artists and hair stylists fill the floor to perfect the looks of 33 already stunning "Angels" – a little curling here, some dabbing there, extending this, and painting that.

For the models, maintaining their heavenly bodies requires year-round discipline.

That hasn't been easy for veteran model Adriana Lima, who just finished losing 50 pounds after the birth of her first child last year.

"Being a mom, working, being a wife, finding time with my friends and finding time to work out," Lima said. "It's like, 'Oh my God,' with the sleepless nights. 'How am I going to do this?'"

Lima was chosen to model a $2 million "Miraculous Bra" adorned with 3,000 diamonds and sprinkled with sapphires and topaz stones.

"I feel like I'm Marilyn Monroe, it's so glamorous," Lima said. "The bra is really, really beautiful."

Being a Victoria's Secret Angel sure has its perks.

Plenty of A-listers were dying to see the show, like Paris and Nicky Hilton and music mogul Russell Simmons. Singer Katy Perry made sure she wore Victoria's Secret.

"I'm wearing a shaper as a skirt, so I hope it works," Perry said.

Celebs walking the pink carpet knew they had the hottest ticket in town, and they each had their own reason for loving Victoria's Secret.

"The lingerie and the beautiful girls," 'Blondie' singer Debbie Harry said.

"I've been secretly Victorialized at moments where I walk in, and she's wearing one of those Victoria Secret thingies, and I just give in," singer Akon said.

"I love Victoria's Secret," singer Natasha Bedingfield said. "It's a guilty pleasure."

Perhaps the Angels do bring out the devil inside.

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, featuring the world's sexiest bombshells, will air on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 10 p.m. in its eighth year on CBS.
