DA: Suspect Admits To Strangling Pace U. Student

NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- The Manhattan District Attorney's Office released a video Thursday of Jeromie Cancel allegedly admitting to strangling a 19-year-old Pace University student in Chelsea in 2008.

Cancel said he met Kevin Pravia on the street, sold him cocaine, and was invited up to his apartment.

In the video, Cancel describes how he methodically killed him after Pravia passed out.

"I grabbed a cord from behind the TV and made a loop and I strangled him. I punched him in the face, got a plastic bag, put it in his mouth, and put a pillow over his face," he said in the video.

Cancel admitted to covering up the body while watching a horror movie before leaving the apartment, according to authorities.

Defense attorneys contend Cancel is mentally ill.
