Cops Searching For Woman Accused Of ID Theft, Bank Fraud

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Police are searching for a woman in connection to an identity theft ring with approximately 500 victims.

Raven Moses, 28, is wanted for identity theft and bank fraud scheme involving thousands of counterfeit checks with numerous commercial banks in Manhattan, police said.

Moses, along with other individuals, obtained personal and bank account information and used it to write thousands of counterfeit checks.

"The defendants stole over $1.4 milion from one bank's accounts and substantial additional sums from other banks," according to police.

Victims range from private individuals, corporations, religious institutions, hospitals, schools and city and state government agencies.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto Crime Stoppers' website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting their tips to CRIMES (274637), then enter TIP577.
