Casey's Call: Handicapping The Heisman

By Casey Keefe
» More Columns

1. Cam Newton, QB, Auburn: (2,038 pass yards - 21 TD's - 6 INT's - 1,297 rush yards - 17 TD's) – Newton and the Tigers had the week off. The bottom line is he will either win or lose the Heisman on Friday afternoon against Alabama in the Iron Bowl. That is as long as the voters haven't already written him because of his off-the-field issues… This week: @ Alabama

2. Kellen Moore, QB, Boise State: (2,921 pass yards - 28 TD's - 5 INT's) – Moore put on another show in the Broncos 51-0 bashing of Fresno State. With two games left, Moore's last chance to really shine is this Friday against a good Nevada team… This week: @ Nevada

3. LaMichael James, RB, Oregon: (1,422 rush yards - 18 total TD's) – Like Newton, James had the week off. He'll have plenty of opportunity to get the voters attention in his final two games. He and his Ducks will be taking on Arizona and Oregon State… This week: Arizona

4. Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford: (2,746 pass yards - 27 TD's - 7 INT's) – Luck did nothing to hurt his stock as he led the Cardinal to a 48-14 rout in "The Big Game" against California. He'll need a monster performance against Oregon State to have a real outside chance at the trophy… This week: Oregon State

5. Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State: (94 receptions – 1,560 yards – 18 total TD's) – Blackmon proved once again to be the guy for a very underrated Cowboy team that took apart Kansas 48-14. Blackmon doesn't have a realistic chance to win the Heisman, but he's had a hell of a year… This week: Oklahoma

Outside Looking In…

- Andy Dalton, QB, TCU

- Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma

- Darron Thomas, QB, Oregon

- Terrelle Pryor, QB, Ohio State

- Denard Robinson, QB, Michigan

Check back on Friday for my preview of all the best games of the weekend.
