Autopsy: NYC Boy Died Of Battered Child Syndrome

NEW YORK (AP) -- Medical examiners said a 2-year-old boy was beaten for some time before he was found unconscious at a Staten Island home, and they've ruled his death a homicide.

Police continued Thursday to investigate Josiah Taylor's death. He was found unresponsive Tuesday and pronounced dead when taken to a hospital.

City medical examiner's office spokeswoman Ellen Borakove says an autopsy determined the boy died of battered child syndrome. She says he had injuries in various stages of healing, indicating they occurred over some period of time.

No arrests have been made.
