True Crime Takes The Stage In New Musical

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - What's a crime reporter to do when all the defendants and lawyers in the courtroom seem to be dancing and singing in her head?

Podcast

WCBS 880 veteran crime & justice reporter Irene Cornell has the story

The New York Post's crime reporter, Laura Italiano, couldn't help herself.

She turned it into "Perp! - The Criminal Musical."

She first asked herself 'What makes a tabloid editors knees jerk?'

"Blondeness is always good," Italiano told WCBS 880 veteran crime and justice reporter Irene Cornell. "...and they like co-eds and they like serial killers. So, we could throw that in and if there is an angle involving tragic puppies then that would maybe just tie it all together."

Other perps in the show include a Broadway star with a casting couch and a penchant for young wayward girls and an interesting guy with an extensive shoe fetish.

The show debuts Friday, December 3 at 7:45 p.m. at the Dramatists Guild, Loewe Reading Room, 1501 Broadway, 7th Floor. To reserve a seat, e-mail Laura at litaliano@me.com.
