Christmas trees decorate the Terminal on Staten Island, but the Nativity scene has been removed.

"Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or Christmas, everybody should be able to celebrate," said commuter Marian Oust.

A Department of Transportation spokesman was quoted as saying the agency didn't give permission for the Nativity scene, and that it was put up by workers.

One Salvation Army worker at the Terminal was disappointed, especially given the Christmas season. "There's a lot of us who don't know the true meaning of Christmas," she said.
