New I-78 Ramp Links Garden State Parkway

HILLSIDE, N.J. (AP) -- Motorists can use a new ramp as a link between two of New Jersey's busiest highways. The ramp lets motorists travel directly from the southbound side of the Garden State Parkway to Interstate 78 East.

Parkway motorists no longer have to exit onto 78 West and use local exits as U-turns in order to reach 78 East.

State Transportation Commissioner James Simpson told The Daily Record of Parsippany an estimated 6,500 motorists will use the new ramp daily.

Work began on the $149 million project in 2008. A ramp that allows motorists heading north on the parkway to exit onto Interstate 78 was finished in September 2009.
