Queens Garage Honors Late Sanitation Worker

NEW YORK (AP) -- A city garage in Queens was being renamed in memory of a sanitation worker who suffered a fatal heart attack on the job.

Stephen Dixon died on March 12, 2009. He was 61.

Sanitation Commissioner John J. Doherty was to preside over Wednesday's ceremony in Far Rockaway.

When Dixon died, the union president said New York sanitation workers have one of the most strenuous and dangerous jobs in the country.
