Giants Umenyiora Fined $12,500 For Hit
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora has been fined $12,500 for roughing Minnesota quarterback Tarvaris Jackson late in the fourth quarter of New York's win over the Vikings on Monday night.
The NFL announced the fine Friday, saying that Umenyiora unnecessarily struck the quarterback in the head and neck area.
Umenyiora was flagged for roughing the passer on the play, which happened in the final minute of a 21-3 win.
Jackson was placed on season-ending injured reserve this week with turf toe.
