No Word On Cause Of N.J. DMV Camera Glitch

TRENTON, N.J. (WCBS 880/AP) -- Trying to renew a New Jersey driver's license hit a glitch because of camera problems.

The Motor Vehicles Commission said the cameras connecting to Trenton were down until about 11:30 a.m. Friday, causing long lines at the DMV all day.

The cameras began functioning again shortly before 11:30 a.m., but many sites were still standing-room only Friday afternoon.

Some people left after hearing about the problem and learning that the sites were closing early due to the holiday. But many others waited out the long delays because they feared driving with an expired license.

There was no word Saturday on what caused the problem.
