B&C Show Blog & Audio: Leave 'Em Out Or Put 'Em In

Bobby Dwyer

The baseball writers voted two players, Bert Blyleven and Roberto Alomar, into the Baseball Hall of Fame yesterday, but the story here is those that did not make the cut.  Those who will not be enshrined are All-Star sluggers Rafael Palmeiro, Jeff Bagwell, Mark McGwire & Juan Gonzalez and according to Craig, their exclusion speaks volumes and he doesn't like it one bit.  The guys talked about the steroid cloud that currently hangs over the HOF voting process and whether or not it is justified.  We also hear about Ben Roethlisberger's apparent engagement, a thrilling moment from a Ranger goal scorer with Norwegian roots and Craig's dangerously high cholesterol…

When Jerry began his 6:30 update with the Jets, Craigie was very pleased to hear Rex Ryan and his team starting to sound a little like their old selves, meaning it's starting to sound like the swagger that many fans have come to love, is making a comeback.  We also heard from Ray Lewis as he talked about his mouth watering.  The New Jersey Nets got a 96-94 over the Bulls last night, 'improving' to 10-25 and Avery Johnson would like to see more smiles.  Boomer was all smiles this morning as the Rangers got a game winning OT goal courtesy of rookie right winger Mats Zucca-'rello', who is of Norwegian descent…

Antonio Pierce suggests that the NFL players should go on strike starting Saturday, boycott the playoffs and send the owners a message.  Now Craig has never been a fan of the former Giants linebacker, so when he heard this ridiculous statement from Pierce, he let him have it.  Boomer recounted his experience during the 1987 strike, an experience he said he would not wish upon anyone, and he pleaded with both sides to do the right thing and figure something out…

Brian Billick

Brian Billick has been a regular contributor to the Boomer & Carton Experience all football season long, so with the playoffs mere days away, Al booked him to come on and break it down with the guys.  Before getting to any of that, Craig tried, as he always does, to figure out why Billick is still without a coaching job, which really is puzzling considering Billick's resume…

Bert Blyleven joined Boomer & Craig; check that, Hall of Famer Bert Blyleven joined Boomer & Craig this morning to talk about just that, his election to the baseball HOF.  Blyleven waited 14 years to get the call and come July 24th, he will officially be enshrined up in Cooperstown along with Roberto Alomar.  Blyleven told the guys what is was like finally getting the call he waited so long for and the steroid cloud that currently hangs over baseball.  Blyleven also talked very openly about his dislike for Pete Rose and his love and admiration for fellow HOF'er Harmon Killebrew…

Our next guest Craig introduced as someone who will never have to worry about waiting for a call from the Hall of Fame because his resume doesn't stack up.  I'm talking about Boomer's old teammate in Cincinnati; Cris Collinsworth who joined the guys this morning for a little fun and some football.  After breaking down the playoffs, specifically the Jets-Colts game, which Collinsworth will be calling on NBC Saturday night…

Craig is very worried about his high cholesterol, so when a delivery of baked goods arrived and the rest of the crew starting indulging, poor Craigie got upset.  After complaining for a minute or two he opened up his can of tuna and began to dig in.  That led to a discussion about what Craig and Al both see as an overabundance of tuna…

Craig decided to play a Jets song that was sent in by a listener to gage interest in the piece.  The name of the song is 'Rex's Gang Green' performed by a group that calls themselves 'The Fox Experience: Featuring Sean Henry'.  After hearing it for the first time Craig loved it, Boomer did not.  Judge for yourself…
