Man Admits Shooting 2 In Times Square Spring Melee

NEW YORK (AP) -- A man has admitted shooting two women during a night of mayhem near New York City's Times Square last spring.

Rayvon Guice pleaded guilty Thursday to attempted murder and other charges stemming from the melee that unfolded around midnight April 5. His case was one of the most serious to arise from what has become a raucous Easter weekend ritual for some.

The 21-year-old Guice told a judge he fired a .380-caliber handgun at someone he didn't know. Two 19-year-old women were shot, one in the elbow and another in the thigh.

Guice's plea deal calls for a 16-year prison term. His sentencing is set for Jan. 19.

Guice was among more than 30 people arrested in the chaos. About two dozen more were ticketed or given juvenile reports.
