Reader's Digest Chappaqua Era Officially Ending
CHAPPAQUA, NY (WCBS 880) - Reader's Digest is officially no longer in Chappaqua and its iconic headquarters is nearly vacant, but there are those who are still hanging on to the memories of the Wallaces and the magazine.

Volunteers at the New Castle Historical Society are getting ready to pack up the DeWitt and Lila Wallace Exhibit.
It chronicles the history of Reader's Digest and its founders are the last pieces of the magazine left in Chappaqua.
"One of his secrets was to get right to the core, but without stripping it of its emotion," says curator Eleanor Griffith.
Griffith, who worked at Reader's Digest for 31 years, speaks of a time when there were Picassos in the office and days off to garden.
She says, "With that loss, is that wonderful upside to have experienced and been part of the Digest. Am I glad they were here? My goodness, yes!"
