Pregnant Woman Killed By Snowplow In Westchester

LEWISBORO, N.Y. (AP) -- A pregnant woman is dead after she was struck by a snowplow in Westchester.

The accident happened Friday in the Town of Lewisboro.

Chief William Dingee of the nearby Vista Fire Department said an employee from a private contracting company was plowing the snow when he apparently struck 34-year-old Andrea Fernandez-Acevedo while she was walking her dog.

Fernandez-Acevedo, who was six months pregnant, was taken to Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut where she died. The dog also was killed.

The plow operator was not injured.

Police are investigating what caused the accident.

Lewisboro, 55 miles north of midtown Manhattan, got about 8 inches of snow Friday.
