B&C Show Blog & Audio: Rex At Top Of The Heap

Bobby Dwyer

After their second straight loss at home, third loss overall, Boomer warns the Knicks that they'd better 'shape-up' otherwise a 'shake-up' could be coming in the form of Carmelo Anthony.  With that out of the way, Craig was then free to declare Rex Ryan, 'warts' and all, as the single best coach/manager currently working in the Tri-State Area.  Ryan's resume thus far is very impressive, but at this point lacks the hardware that some of his contemporaries have.  But despite the absence of a Championship Trophy, Craigie made a compelling argument for the Jets outspoken Head Coach to be at the top of the heap.  Boomer didn't necessarily agree with Craig's declaration, but he too sang the praises of one Rex Ryan…

Plus, Jerry 'Rello' provides us with numerous audio clips during his very informative update, Phil Simms joins the guys during the 7am hour and talks about his extreme workout regime, a guy named Chunky from one of our sister-stations made a Jets song and sent it to Craig, what is the plural of shrimp, Cris Collinsworth sleep walks to the phone and calls in, Jerry's somewhat creepy Moment of the Day and a 'Attention Grabber' that will have you checking your local listings…

Jerry's first update of the day was focused primarily on the Jets upcoming AFC Championship game with the Steelers, but unlike the weeks leading up to their last two playoff games, the Jets appear to be a little tight lipped going into Pittsburgh.  Craig is fascinated by the similarities between the two teams, saying this one will probably be decided by a big play in one direction or another.  The Giants are not in the playoffs but that didn't stop Antrel Rolle and Kenny Phillips from joining Sid Rosenberg on his afternoon radio show in down in Florida (WQAM) and taking a few shots at their head coach. All of that and Bill Belichick addresses the media, the Knicks slide continues and Craig's 'Cuse losses to Pitt…

Phil Simms and Boomer's relationship is a puzzling one, the two no doubt have an enormous amount of respect for each other, but something is just a little bit off.  Phil joined B&C just after 7am this morning and right off the bat the guys busted his chops about a couple of workout videos he was a part of in the late 80's, one where he actually references Boomer by name while doing push-ups wearing four 25lb. chains around his neck (case in point as far as their strange relationship).  Eventually they got to talking about football and Phil gave his take on the Jets win over the Pats; a game he called along with Jim Nantz on CBS.  We also got to hear Simms' take on the Jets moving forward and we learned which Golden Blonde QB rushed for more yards in their career, Boomer or Phil…

A fella named Chunky hosts a radio show on one of our sister stations, 92.3 Now and after being inspired by Al 'Hughes' Dukes, Chunky and his sidekick 'the guy on the couch' made a little Jets song of their own and sent it along to Craigie with the hopes he would play it on the air.  Well their hopes were realized at the top of the 8 o'clock hour, when Craig played the parody song, which was met with great resistance by many listeners who claimed the effort was a flat out rip off.  The aforementioned 'guy on the couch' woke from his slumber and joined B&C to try and straighten things out…

A few of the Jets celebrated their win over the Patriots Sunday night by going out for a little seafood at an establishment called 'Sushi Samba' here in NY.  Craig recalled a visit he made to the restaurant a while back when he ordered some 'dancin' sushi' and that trip down memory lane led to a one-sided debate on whether the plural of shrimp is shrimp or shrimps…

Cris Collinsworth got an early wake-up call courtesy of Al Dukes, so he joined B&C to break down all of the action thus far in the NFL Playoffs.  After shaking off the morning cobwebs, Collinsworth offered plenty of opinions.  He also posed an interesting question regarding Rex Ryan's brash style of coaching and what it means for the future of the sport…

For today's highly anticipated Moment of the Day Jerry chose a rather creepy Moment when Craigie gave Boomer a little taste of what his 50th Birthday celebration will be like in April…
