House Fire Kills Elderly L.I. Woman
MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP / CBS 2) -- An early morning fire at a two-family house on Long Island has claimed the life of a 71-year-old woman.
Authorities say 10 trucks and 85 firefighters responded to the blaze at Jackson Avenue in Mineola just after midnight Tuesday.
The victim was discovered in a rear first-floor bedroom.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. But the Nassau County fire marshall said it was not suspicious.
