SELDEN, N.Y. (CBS 2) — A town in Suffolk County was organizing a fire hydrant hunt Monday.

Selden fire officials said many hydrants are buried in snow and ice after all the storms this month.

They’re asking people who have a hydrant on or near their property to dig it out or mark it in some way so firefighters can find it.

Selden locator crews will be out all day, searching for hydrants.
