NYC Samaritan Showered With Snowblower Offers

NEW YORK (AP) -- A good neighbor who helps clear snow off his entire New York City block had received offers to replace his stolen snowblower from as far away as the Middle East.

William Hebner of Staten Island told the Daily News he got calls from soldiers in Iraq. But in the end, he accepted an offer from a Staten Island couple who had an extra machine.

The 67-year-old said he didn't have the $800 for a new snowblower.

His was stolen from his truck's flatbed during last Thursday's snowstorm. It happened while he went inside to warm up after working to clear the foot and a half of new snow.

Neighbors told the News that Hebner helped the whole block.
