WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reports from Long Island

The Nassau County Health Department says the child was at the Roosevelt Field Macy's on Jan. 20 from 3 to 10:30 p.m.

"The child recently traveled internationally to countries that are known to have measles – Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East." Nassau County Health Department Spokesperson Mary Ellen Lorrain told WCBS 880.

The virus can cause symptoms ranging from fever and rash to diarrhea and ear infections. The illness typically begins with a rash on the face, which can spread to the rest of the body.

Anyone who feels they have symptoms or may have been exposed are being asked to call health care providers or emergency rooms before going for care so that others are not exposed to the illness.
