Polls: NJ Residents Approve Of Gov. Christie

TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Two polls find more residents approve than disapprove of the job New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is doing a year into his term.

A Monmouth University/Gannett New Jersey Press Media Poll finds Christie's job approval rating 47-40 percent favorable. Christie gets high marks for cost-cutting but lower grades for providing property tax relief.

A Quinnipiac University Poll puts the governor's job approval rating at 52-40 percent.

The Monmouth telephone poll of 801 New Jerseyans was taken Feb. 2-7 and has a sampling error margin plus or minus 3.5 percent.

The Quinnipiac poll of 1,347 registered voters was taken Feb. 3-7 and has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 2.7 percent.
