Report: A-Rod 'Ballistic' Over Super Bowl Popcorn Shot

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Although Fox's Super Bowl XLV broadcast drew favorable reviews and historic ratings, consider Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez among the critics.

A-Rod, no stranger to uncomfortable moments, was flashed all over the globe having popcorn fed into his mouth by Cameron Diaz during the first quarter on Sunday.

"He really went ballistic — thinking the cameraman was out to get them in a paparazzi-like shot," reported the Chicago Sun-Times. "Anyone who knows anything about producing a live sports event — especially something as huge as the Super Bowl — would know that those celebrity shots are purely random."

"A-Rod, of all people, should know that," added gossip columnist Bill Zwecker's source, an anonymous Fox insider.

As the game began, Rodriguez and Diaz were flashed onto the screen and promptly booed by the Super crowd.

Fox's Joe Buck admitted the moment bordered on awkward.

"I'm sure Alex is thrilled we just put the camera on him at that moment," Buck said.
