Defense Attorney Accused Of Witness Tampering

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - A defense attorney in a murder trial is accused of tampering with evidence.

WCBS 880's Irene Cornell reports attorney Mitchell Golub faces a charge of witness tampering for trying to keep a key witness from testifying before a grand jury in a brutal East Harlem murder.

Christina Hernandez was stabbed 26 times and died from her injuries. Key evidence comes from an eyewitness heard her screams and says they say the accused killer 18-year-old Jesus Alejandro standing over her body with a bloody knife in his hand.

Golub is accused of trying to keep that witness from testifying.

There was another witness who got a phone call from Alejandro saying, "I just cut Christie."

Golub is expected in court on April 27 to answer to the tampering charge.
