Iona Never Trails, Routs Manhattan 102-65

NEW YORK (AP) — Scott Machado led five Iona players in double figures with 20 points in a 102-65 rout of Manhattan on Wednesday night.

Sean Armand and Chris Pelcher added 13 points each, and Rashon Dwight and Trinity Fields chipped in 12 apiece for the Gaels, who scored a season-high and reached 100 points for the second time this season.

Iona (17-10, 11-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), which never trailed, shot 66.7 percent from the field (36 of 54) and 59.3 percent from 3-point range (16 of 27).

The Gaels were 19-of-26 shooting in the first half, going 10 of 16 from beyond the arc to lead 56-36 at halftime. It was their fourth straight win.

Machado then scored 11 of his points in the second half and Iona pushed its lead to as many as 41 points with 4:57 remaining.

Manhattan (5-22, 3-12) was led by George Beamon with 21 points and Demetrius Jemison added 19.
