New Jersey Cops Searching For Man They Say Shot Teen

CARTERET, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Authorities in Middlesex County are looking for a man wanted in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy in Carteret.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan and Carteret Police Chief John Pieczyski announced Saturday that they are actively searching for 19-year-old Jorge Borrero in the death of Malcolm Harvey.

Borrero has already been charged with murder and possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose. Officials said the suspect was last seen February 16, the day of the shooting.

A police investigation determined that Borrero shot the teen on Pershing Avenue. Harvey was able to walk toward a nearby library, where he fell on the sidewalk. The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he died.

The Middlesex County Medical Examiner's Office determined Harvey was the victim of a homicide and that he died from a gunshot wound.
