NEW YORK (WFAN) — WFAN’s Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton are openly thrilled about the Knicks’ trade for Carmelo Anthony.

Peter Vecsey of the NY Post is not.

“It truly would not surprise me if they wound up with a losing record the rest of the year,” Vecsey told the duo Tuesday morning. “I just don’t understand how they think they can win with two official scorers, a couple fringe players.”

The Knicks would reportedly send Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov and a 2014 first-round draft pick to the Nuggets for Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman.

The Knicks would also send Eddy Curry and Anthony Randolph to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Corey Brewer.

Vecsey isn’t sold on Billups at the point.

“You look at point guards in this league and, he can’t guard these point guards any more,” he said.

And what about the Knicks’ situation in the paint?

“My point is that they have no center,” Vecsey explained. “Turiaf, who’s always hurt? They have no center!”

Boomer & Carton, who were ecstatic about the Carmelo news, said Vecsey set their party “on fire.”

Still, Vecsey wouldn’t back down.

“He does not fit in any way,” he said.

this is the guy who said he would never watch another knicks game or attend msg–the garden tools on him thats why he hates the knicks

It’s exciting that the Knicks have two top tier superstars; something they never gave Ewing. But vescey is right to a degree. Melo and amare are scorers. Melo is not big on D. Billups is a great pickup but is older. I’m more excited about the Knicks going after chris Paul. As for a center, there is a lack pure centers in the entire league. Long gone are the days of Ewing, Olajuwon, Robinson, etc.

You are tripping – I think the Knick stole Carmelo:
    Here’s why
We gave up Raymond Felton we get back Chauncey Billups – advantage Knicks
We gave up Danilo Gallinari we get back Carmelo Anthony – advantage Knicks
We gave up Wilson Chandler we get back Renaldo Balkman – its a wash
We gave up Timofey Mozgov we get back Shelden Williams – its a wash
We gave up 2014 1st round we get back Anthony Carter – advantage Nuggets

    To Minnesota
We gave up Anthony Randolph we get back Corey Brewer – advantage Knicks
We gave up Eddy Curry’s expiring contract 4 more cap room – advantage Knicks

So at the end of the day we got Carmelo and we gave up some scrub.

This is the same Vecsey who used to say Patrick Ewing was overrated and was not a Hall of Famer. The same Patrick Ewing that took the Knicks to 13 straight playoffs. Vecsey has an axe to grind with the Knicks for some reason. Maybe old man Dolan didn’t call him the next morning.

Vesey is an idiot no wonder hes not on tv anymore he just shut his mouth and see that its going to work. He is a hater along with other media outlets.

  8. Dean says:

Vesey is right on. The Knicks were fools to give up the entire roster for one player.
