Boomer & Carton: Vecsey Sets Carmelo Party 'On Fire'

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- WFAN's Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton are openly thrilled about the Knicks' trade for Carmelo Anthony.

Peter Vecsey of the NY Post is not.

"It truly would not surprise me if they wound up with a losing record the rest of the year," Vecsey told the duo Tuesday morning. "I just don't understand how they think they can win with two official scorers, a couple fringe players."

The Knicks would reportedly send Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov and a 2014 first-round draft pick to the Nuggets for Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman.

The Knicks would also send Eddy Curry and Anthony Randolph to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Corey Brewer.

Vecsey isn't sold on Billups at the point.

"You look at point guards in this league and, he can't guard these point guards any more," he said.

And what about the Knicks' situation in the paint?

"My point is that they have no center," Vecsey explained. "Turiaf, who's always hurt? They have no center!"

Boomer & Carton, who were ecstatic about the Carmelo news, said Vecsey set their party "on fire."

Still, Vecsey wouldn't back down.

"He does not fit in any way," he said.
