Tom Coughlin Not Sold On Ex-Giant Burress

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Drew Rosenhaus has been drumming up interest in Plaxico Burress for the better part of a month.

Consider head coach Tom Coughlin not completely sold on the jailed ex-Giant.

"I don't know that there would be any interest," Coughlin told reporters Friday at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Last month, Rosenhaus announced on Showtime's "Inside the NFL" that Burress "will be playing" in 2011.

"It will be a very happy ending to a very tough, tough story for him," he said.

The Giants' coach also sounded off on running back Brandon Jacobs. Coughlin admitted his big, bruising back "does need to carry the ball a little bit more."

"Well, you look at the end of the year numbers, you'd want him to have a few more carries," Coughlin said. "He's got a lot of gas in the tank."

Coughlin, not known for his sense of humor, managed to crack back at Antrel Rolle, who infamously called the coach "too uptight" last month.

"You should have seen me a few years ago," he said.

Still, the big question is -- where will Plaxico land?

Hines Ward said before the Super Bowl that Burress would be welcomed back to the Pittsburgh Steelers "with open arms."

"How great would that be?" Ward told the Star-Ledger last month. "For Plax to come back with the Steelers and help us win another Super Bowl, that would be a great story."

According to NFL analyst Phil Simms, a New York-Plaxico reunion is unlikely.

"I don't think he'll come back to the Giants. One, they are loaded at the receiver position," Simms said in January. "I think it might be best for him to move on and connect with the coach or the receiver coach that he can have a special relationship with and further his career along."
