NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - A breast cancer hotline is hoping some Creative Cups will help them raise money after state budget woes forced a reduction.

One third of the funding for the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and support program has been cut. A silent auction will be held on March 15 where people can bid on decorated bras - including one by WCBS 880's Pat Farnack.

Event organizer Lyn Dobrin  called Farnack's creation "gorgeous."

"That sharp black and white with a touch of red and the microphone on it, it's just a beauty," Dobrin said. "I hope people come and get to see it. I love it."

They're calling it "BRAdio."

Other entries in the Creative Cups event include a Cleopatra-themed bra, one made by Miss USA and another called "Yogi Bra'rer" - autographed by Yankees legend Yogi Berra.

"We have a fortune bra by a woman named Hen Allen, who lives in Brooklyn, and this bra has over a hundred paper fortunes typically found in fortune cookies," Dobrin explained.

Dobrin described many of the programs for those suffering with breast cancer saying, "For some, it's gathering information and we help them and they're with like-minded people. For others, it's being in that support group and being with people who are in a similar position and helping each other. We're just there to provide for anyone who is worried about breast cancer or has breast cancer to be there to help them as they work through this disease."

The Creative Cups auction and reception starts at 5:30 p.m. on March 15 at the Ruth S. Harley University Center on the campus of Adelphi University in Garden City. For more information, click HERE or call 800-877-8077.
