Fallen NY Congressman To Return Donor Funds

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Fallen ex-congressman Chris Lee is telling campaign donors that he intends to refund all of their money.

The Republican resigned in February after the Web site Gawker posted shirtless pictures that Lee had purportedly sent to a woman he was trying to pick up on the Internet. Lee is married.

The Buffalo News reports that Lee is now apologizing to his donors in a letter that they began receiving this week.

In it, he says he regrets his actions and makes no excuses for his behavior.

Lee says anyone who gave money to his election campaign in 2010 or 2011 will be getting their donation back in full.

Records show he had about $743,000 in campaign funds in the bank at the close of last year.
