On WFAN: Bill Walton Talks NCAA Tournament, John Wooden

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- NBA all-timer Bill Walton joined Boomer & Carton on Wednesday to look back on all aspects -- from college to the pros -- of his Hall of Fame career.

One thing's for sure: Walton can't wait to wake up on Thursday.

"We've declared tomorrow a holiday because it's a situation where (we have) the perfect harmonic convergence of St. Patrick's Day and the start of the NCAA Tournament," said the ever-cerebral great. "And we have this opportunity to celebrate the greatness, the goodness and the boldness of life."

Walton had an up-and-down relationship with the late John Wooden. He explained that it wasn't until after leaving UCLA that he learned to appreciate the great coach.

"The day after I left UCLA," Walton said. "The very first day."

Be sure to listen to Walton's entire interview as he touches on back surgery, Larry Bird, UCLA and more.
