The Weather Is Golden For Golfing In The Tri-State Area

EAST MEADOW, NY (WCBS 880) - Golfers, if you haven't done it already, get out your clubs!

With smiles on their faces golfers were already out in full force at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, Long Island on Wednesday.

A golfer, who identified himself only as Mario, said that because Mother Nature is cooperating, he expects to see a lot of his buddies on the course.

"This time of the year everybody comes out," Mario said.

He said conditions on the course aren't quite up to par thanks to the rough winter.

"Well, your ball just kind of hits the ground and stops," says Mario. "You have to hit the ball real high and far."

Golfer Frank Sedari has been practicing his swing.

"Some of the situations aren't like we would like them to be," Sedari said. "There are temporary tees and different things, but it's practicing off grass. The greens are in decent shape."

For those who do not play, another golfer, who identified himself as Mike, said the best part of being out on the course is "the social aspect of it." He also agreed that you can get a good tan.

With spring-like weather on tap there's no better time to hit the green. Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high of 63. Friday will see a mixture of sun and clouds. AccuWeather forecasters said it will be breezy and warm with a high of 70.

A bit of rain Saturday morning will cool things down to about 50 degrees for the whole weekend.
