WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell: Your Plants Will Survive This Snowfall
This latest storm has had a little bit of everything – thunder, snow, sleet and hail in Astoria last night and slushy roads throughout our area.
Salt spreaders were on the highways and little more than a dozen schools in the northwest part of the Garden State were opening later than usual as the storm system moved off the coast.

Even as the snow departs the Tri-State, snow fatigue settles in.
“The shovel’s broke. The mailbox has gotten knocked off. I am sick of winter finally,” said Sue Brown of Sparta.
This one-two punch of perhaps our last spring snowstorm may mean this is the last of the winter wonderlands in Monroe and Woodbury.
In Sparta Township, the steady spring snowfall meant several more inches of snow on grassy surfaces and driveways. About nine inches fell there since Wednesday.
“I love the snow, but I hate it now. Spring time should be no snow around,” said Debbie Perin of West Milford.
The six parks and recreation workers who clear the township’s sidewalks and assist on the roads were just about done with the constant snowfall.
Asked how many times he shoveled, Charlie Munroe sighed and answered: “I couldn’t tell you at this point. A lot.”
Mark Stetzel was hired every storm to clear the sidewalks and parking lots of 15 businesses.
“I’m ready for it to be over,” he said. “Busy, hectic.”
It took retiree Charlie Treanor 20 minutes to methodically clean snow off his car.
Asked what he thought of this year’s winter, he said: “It’s the coldest I’ve known.”

Stop moaning and get back to work!!!!!!!
No, winter really has overstayed its welcome. The fact that the first full day of spring brought a fresh layer of snow was like a slap in the face.
