B&C Morning Show Blog & Audio: Morning Madness

Bobby Dwyer

The guys opened up this Friday edition of the Boomer & Carton Morning Extravaganza by recapping their afternoon on the ice at MSG.  They were participating in a charity event, 'Skate to the Garden', during which Craig took his place 'between the pipes' (hockey term) and proceeded to 'stone' (another hockey term) the Blonde Bomber, not once but twice!!!  I can't confirm, but I can only assume the above picture was taken following the monumental event.  Either way the guys had a blast all afternoon, you check out the entire gallery of pictures documenting the historic event by clicking here, for video documentation click here.  Afterwards Boomer stuck around to see the Rangers lose in a shootout to the Senators, but Craig hurried home (without showering) to catch all of the action on the hardwood, as the field of 68 has been dwindled to 12, as half of the Elite 8 is set.  UCONN, behind 36 points from Kemba Walker, advanced after beating San Diego State, Florida ended Jimmer Fredette and BYU's quest for a title, Butler proves last year was no fluke by taking out Wisconsin and to both Boomer & Craig's delight, defending National Champion Duke had their lofty dreams of defending their title dashed by Derrick Williams and the Wildcats from Arizona…

During Jerry's first update we heard from UCONN Coach Jim Calhoun after his team advanced last night and we heard from Duke's Mike Krzyzewski after his team did not.  Then it was on to the best game of the night between Florida & BYU, where with under 20 seconds to go the score was tied at 68-68 and Florida had possession when play-by-play man Gus Johnson opened his mouth, which he is paid to do, but maybe next time he'll leave the analyzing to those who get paid to analyze, because suggesting that BYU foul in that situation was beyond embarrassing and Reggie Miller let him know it, then Craig took advantage of the opportunity to pile on, which was certainly warranted…

Craig could not say enough good things about Adam Graves, who took little Craigie under his wing yesterday, playing the role of mentor and helping him prepare for his 'net-minding duties' (yet another hockey term).  So Graves called in this morning to see how Craig was feeling and Boomer unpredictably ripped into him, calling him a turncoat for tutoring Craig.  I suspect this may have had something to do with the Booms inability to penetrate Craig's goalie wall.  Graves did voice a little concern about Craig's locker room behavior, where Craig admitted to having a constant smile because of all of the naked men.  Then we learned that following the athletic endeavor, after working up a healthy lather, Craig chose not to shower and Boomer said it did not go unnoticed because he stunk…

Chris Capuano is likely to be in the Mets pitching rotation this season after battling injuries for the good part of the last three years, having undergone 'Tommy John Surgery' for the second time of his career and he woke-up early this morning to give the guys a call.  Before they could get to the baseball aspect of the conversation, Craig got things started by reminding Capuano, who is a Duke graduate, that his Blue Devils got beat down last night.  With that out of the way, until Craig offered one more reminder as they said goodbye, the deck was clear to talk about the Mets upcoming season and what role Capuano is likely to fill…

Rep. Peter King

Congressman Peter King (yes, Peter King), who is a personal friend of the Wilpon's as well as an avid Mets fan, has gotten involved in the Mets financial mess, favoring the side of the Wilpon's and questioning the role of attorney Irving Picard, who was appointed as trustee of assets seized by the court in the Bernie Madoff case.  Picard is also reportedly set to make about $300 million for his time.  With that said, Peter King (yes, Peter King) joined B&C to explain his role moving forward…

You never know for certain when a possible Moment of the Day is going to materialize, like today for example, just prior to Jerry delivering his selection low and behold a Moment all in itself was born.  It occurred when the guys were all discussing the Barry Bonds perjury case that is currently going on and how the use of an orchidometer was needed.  An orchidometer is an instrument used to measure the size of one's testicles; in this case Bonds' and the laughter ensued throughout the discussion but reached a climax when Al mentioned something he found interesting in the court transcripts.  Eventually Jerry delivered his original selection, which probably made Craigie wish he had an orchidometer handy yesterday afternoon…
