LIRR Is On The Hunt For Fare Jumpers
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - Fare dodgers and ticket scammers beware.
The Long Island Rail Road has compiled a list of people who get on trains and repeatedly make excuses to not pay.
We all have bad days and maybe forget our wallets, but Joe Calderone told WCBS 880's Sophia Hall the LIRR has 700 repeat offenders.

"Most of our customers are honest, but there are some people who try and scam the system," said Calderone.
The list of about 700 people is compiled of people who have gotten free rides four or more times.
"If a person is on the list, they can be asked to detrain at the next stop or the police are called," said Calderone.
Calderone says this is an important issue because it hurts the system because every dollar counts. So far, these fare jumpers have cost the LIRR over $200,000.
