B&C Morning Show Blog & Audio: Positive Tuesday

Bobby Dwyer

After six straight losses the Knicks righted the ship, temporarily anyway, last night at the 'World's Most Famous Arena' when they went to overtime with the Magic and came away with a 113-106 victory.  Boomer & Craig were on-hand to see Carmelo Anthony have his best game since joining the Knickerbockers, putting up 39 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and leading an impressive defensive effort.  Craig was a little disappointed with the lack of electricity at the Garden, saying the building was dead.  He also complained about his seat that was between two fat men, making him very uncomfortable.  Craig eventually moved his seat and we later learned that one of the large men he was referring to was none other than his radio partner.  Boomer took exception to being called fat and then documented just how exhausting it is going out with Craig, who couldn't sit still and furthermore embarrassed himself during a conversation with pro-golfer Jim Furyk.  So with the Knicks win and the news that it is likely Carlos Beltran will be starting in right field for the Mets come Opening Day (4/1 in Florida against the Marlins), Craig declared today as 'Positive Tuesday' and the Show took form from there…

Between the NCAA Tournament and last night's trip to the Garden, Craig is clearly in a basketball state of mind and he asked Boomer if he would mind if he dropped 'basketball lingo' when the two of them discussed all of the happenings on the hardwood, Boomer didn't seem to care either way, telling Craigie he rarely listens to what he is saying anyway.  I don't think Craig cared much for Boomer's response so predictably he took it out on Jerry 'Rello' Recco, who luckily is equipped with a tough exterior and let Craig's comments roll off his back and then proceeded to deliver an update that concluded with a lengthy discussion about Barry Bonds perjury trial as the guys wondered why everyone is so obsessed with the size of the man's testicles…

They call it March Madness, but the Final Four takes place in April, I don't get it???  Anyway, while we're on the subject of college hoops, Greg Anthony joined B&C this morning to break down the 'Tourney'.  Anthony has been a part of the excellent Tournament coverage on CBS, TBS, TNT & truTV, working as a studio analyst and he offered some pretty keen insight.  He also talked about his days running the point for Jerry Tarkanian at UNLV and the atmosphere that surrounded legendary team and their Head Coach.  Although he wouldn't reveal his picks for the Championship Game Monday night, he did say Kemba Walker is the best player and indicated that he thought Butler was better than VCU, so take from that what you will and be sure to tune into CBS Saturday night to see how it all plays out…

Don't look now Mets fans, but Francisco 'K-Rod' Rodriguez has had a pretty good spring, not allowing a single run.  Boomer & Craig wonder what kind of year the free-agent in waiting will have when the season begins.  Then Craig made an interesting comparison between the Wilpon's and Barry Bonds as they all find themselves in a legal mess.  Speaking of Bonds, Craig shifted gears to talk about a subject dear to his heart, himself.  He talked about his ever changing body in comparison to the 'Home Run King' Bonds, and then Boomer spilled the beans on Craig's questionable drink selections last night at dinner…

Bernard Hopkins is preparing to fight Jean Pascal on May 21st, a rematch after the two fought to a draw back in December of 2010.  This morning Hopkins took a break from training to come in-studio with B&C and promote the match and promote it he did.  At 46, Hopkins has been at the boxing thing for some time, accumulating an impressive record of 51-5-2 and during the weigh-in for his upcoming fight, things got a little heated when Pascal insinuated that Hopkins has used PED's to get to this point of his career.  Hopkins was infuriated by the remarks and said he is looking forward to 'beating his ass' right in his own backyard, the fight will take place in Laval, Quebec the town Pascal calls home…

Craig made quite a scene last night at the Garden when it came to the seating arrangements; he was seated smack in the middle of Boomer and his nephew Randy, two men Craigie described as fat.  Boomer took exception to the description, stating that he is 'fit fat' and he is okay with it.  Jerry was amused by Boomer's response, so much so in fact that he selected it as his highly anticipated Moment of the Day…
