City Council Passes Blizzard Measures To Ensure Efficient Response
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- New York City Council has passed a number of measures to ensure that the blizzard disaster of this past winter doesn't repeat itself.
Council Speaker Christine Quinn called the city's response to the December 2010 storm "unacceptable." She said the seven bills will set guidelines requiring preparation, transparency and communication among government agencies.

Councilman Peter Vallone described the measures as a playbook that would help guide the mayor's administration.
Quinn added City Council passed the snow fixes in order to "make sure something like [the poor response] never happens again." She went on to say that New Yorkers should expect the city to do "the job they pay us to do."
Mayor Michael Bloomberg is expected to sign the bills into law.
