Coney Island 'Freak' Show Opens On Saturday

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- It's being billed as a 10-day gathering of the strange, the weird, the odd and the unusual.

After a lot of back and forth with a new developer, the freak show will be back on Coney Island this year. The Super Freak Weekend at Sideshows by the Seashore will open on Saturday.

Dick Zigun, the Executive Director of Coney Island U.S.A., called the event the last true American sideshow and naturally there's a bearded lady.

"She juggles machetes so when you make comments about her beard, make sure you're polite and a gentleman," Zigun told 1010 WINS' John Montone.

Eak the Geek, Lil' Miss Firefly and Koko the Killer Clown will also be at the show, along with The Great Fredini, who has an act as the human blockhead.

"He could hammer a nail into the center of his head with a hammer and live to laugh and joke about it," Zigun said.

Tickets for the show at 1208 Surf Avenue will be sold for $10 at the door. The last ticket will be sold at 7 p.m.
