NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Coney Island opened up on Saturday for the new season despite the nasty weather.

Together, local officials and fans christened the Cyclone with egg crème and Jody came all the way from Baltimore for the fun.

“It’s my birthday and this is what I wanted to do. It’s raining, but it’s still fun,” she said.

Everyone’s hair was soaking wet, but they still had smiles on their faces, showing their uplifted spirits on a not-so-picture-perfect day.

More people were wiping off tickler ride cars than were riding but Hailey said she had a blast.

“I did the Cyclone twice and two other rides,” she said.
