He says it creates "a magnificent atmosphere, a religious climate in New York because our Jewish neighbors are celebrating and Christian neighbors are celebrating. So, most of New York City approaches this week as the high holy days, and that creates a real beautiful chemistry that opens us up to God and faith and religions."

"What our Jewish neighbors are beautifully and devoutly celebrating, namely: God delivering them from oppression and slavery and darkness and death in Egypt to freedom and new life in Israel," Dolan told WCBS 880 reporter Rich Lamb. "Guess what! We Christians celebrate the same thing in Jesus - God the father delivering him from the death and darkness and hate and oppression of Good Friday afternoon to the freedom, the new life of the light of Easter Sunday. That's his Passover."

As Dolan put it, for Christians, this week is also a powerful reminder of Jewish roots, and says we are all celebrating the virtue of hope.
