NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Manhattan store owner says he has been slapped with half a dozen tickets for parking legally outside his flower shop.

Nick Bazas, the owner of Quality Florist on Columbus Avenue, said he has gotten ticket after ticket totaling $65 each for parking on the block between 81st and 82nd streets.

1010 WINS’ Stan Brooks speaks with Bazas about the tickets

The tickets all indicate that the trucks delivering to Bazas’ store failed to display a Muni Meter receipt. There is just one problem, no meters exist on the east side of the street where the vehicles park.

“My delivery guys come. They need to park somewhere. They load, by the time they come here, they got a ticket,” Bazas told 1010 WINS’ Stan Brooks.

The signs on the block designate the zone as one for commercial parking, loading and unloading. They also say that no receipt is needed.

“You do not need to have a Muni Meter receipt,” a perturbed Bazas said. “We park legally, we get tickets. That’s the bottom line. The meter maids misread the signs.”

bilking donut eating unions …. That is why it does not pay to do business in NYC. I once got a ticket for a car I no longer owned and the new owner had totalled it. They issued a ticket for a car that did not exist! That is telling. Corruption, dishonesty and lack of integrity.

Traffic enforcement officers have no common sense or compassion. Also often times told by superiors to write tickets they know are no good in the hoped that at least half will be pain anyway.

Metermaids are stupid and usually have no education. Overglorified nothings.
